Our Town is an undeniable American classic. I was a bit upset to hear in class today that my professor loathes this play, as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it for a long time. I understood some of the reasons he dislikes it, but for me, it’s still a worthwhile, enjoyable read. The story is simple and straightforward, but, in my opinion, the play’s final act is where it packs a punch. If it doesn’t leaving you thinking about the meaning of life and the ones you love, I’d be a bit surprised.
